Asus padfone 2 showed in a video

Asus padfone back

Asus padfone 2 has been showed in a video. It has 4.7 inch HD screen. No other specs have been revealed as much yet. The phone itself is good looking.
The asus padfone 2 has a good tapered design which helps it fit nicely into the tablet dock. It is not yet confirmed that weather it will be running ICS or Jelly bean (android 4.1). It will most likely have Tegra 3 or Snapdragon S4 processor.

Micromax Launches Dual core A110 Superfone Canvas

A110
A110 dual core superfone canvas
Well here it is, Micromax has just announced the successor to its budget phablet, the A100 superfone canvas.

Specifications-
  • 1GHz dual core processor
  • 5 inch IPS LCD screen (854*480)
  • Capacitive buttons
  • 8MP Camera with dual LED flash
  • Android 4 ICS (Ice cream sandwitch)
  • 512 MB Ram
  • LED notification light on top left
  • White and black color
Price in India Rs -11990 /-

Black color
A110 Superfone
What is different from the previous Micromax A100 Superfone canvas?
Processor
The processor on A100 was single core 1GHz while on A110 superfone is 1GHz Dual core. A dual core CPU has its own advantage. First the performance is increased in launching apps and multitasking. Second for a dual core processor the battery saving is more. The A110 surely has got a upper hand not over any other handset in the market at this price range.

Camera
The micromax A110 has an 8MP camera with dual LED flash while the A100 had a 5MP camera with single LED flash. This is a major overhaul and will really improve the image quality under low light. This is suppose to include 720 HD video recording while A100 had 480P recording. The picture detail will be more because of the improved sensor. It will feature faster picture taking capabilities due to that 1GHz dual core processor.

Screen
The screen on the micromax a110 is biggest highlight after its processor . It features 5 inch IPS ICD screen. An IPS screen has very good viewing angles and good colors and this should not disappoint. Also the A100 has a normal screen but the colors were very rich and the quality of the screen was nice with good viewing outside. The A110 superfone screen might take this experience towards a level up.

Buttons
This is a big difference in these two phablets. The A100 features on screen buttons while the A110 features capacitive touch buttons below the screen. I usually preferred on screen buttons but depends on what you like and not. The sure advantage on the A110 will be more screen size which previously was taken by on screen buttons on the A100.

Notification LED
This is a welcome feature. There is a notification LED on the top left side of the front of Micromax A110 superfone. It is good when your phone is silent and any notification comes in.

Size
The Micromax A110 superfone canvas 2 will be bigger in size because of extra space taken by capacitive buttons on the bottom of the screen. This difference will not be much noticeable as the phone will just increase in height. It might be about 10 mm more.

Color Options
This is a worthy upgrade to the old micromax A100 as the new micromax A110 has 2 color options, black and white. It is a good news for the folks who prefer white color. Although i would wait to see what the back will be made of because on the orignal A100 was matte black on the black colored phone.

Views
The micromax A110 superfone canvas2 surely takes the budget friendly phablet A100 to a different level. it has some noticeable differences from A100 and are a plus. The only thing i think it is lagging is Jelly Bean Android 4.1. It should have been launched with Jelly bean but ICS does not hurt at this price.

Is the price Justified ?
The micromax A110 is to be priced at Rs 11990 in India. If this is right then it more than worth for the upgrade it is providing. The camera, screen and CPU now make this phone stand strong which otherwise the A100 superfone canvas lagged. This phone is suppose to launch somewhere around october 25.

What is not known?
The GPU is not known but with the bump in specs this should also go up.
Battery capacity is not yet revealed but it is likely to be the same. Which company processor is present in Micromax A110 is unknown. Will the video calling over 3G be available or not?
Be tuned to Androidintech.blogspot.in for more such news.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 full review with video- is it worth the price?

Samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 is a 7 inch dual core tablet running Android 4.0 ICS. Lets jump into full review below.

Design
This is a very neat looking device. It is rounded on the corners and is comfortable to hold in hand. At first it feels heavy in hand but as you start using the tab, it feels normal and the weight is not noticed that much. The back is plastic dark grey in colour. There is a camera on the top left side and in top centre the Samsung logo is present.
The border of the device extends from the side of the device to front on the top and bottom. This is titanium grey in colour and it feels nice and does not harm your hands. In front there is a black bezel present on all four sides of the screen. On top there is a 3.5mm jack with a microphone beside it and on bottom is the Samsung proprietary connector with a set of stereo speakers on its both sides. These speakers are covered by metal mesh and beside the right speaker there is a microphone present. On the right side of the tab 2 is the power button and volume rocker. On the left side SIM card and MicroSD card slot are present which are protected by a cover with labels on top of it. This is nice of Samsung because for new adaptors it is a point of convenience.
The build quality of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is strong and tough. It did not feel perky or shaky. However this is not that big device. If you feel like holding it in one hand and playing some casual games, it is a pleasant experience. If you have small hands holding the device in one hand will be a bit more tough than usual. Over complete device, you do not feel any sharp things to bother which is nice considering you will use it a lot of time to watch videos and movies.

Screen
A screen is the focus line for mobile or tablet computing device. There is a 7 inch screen present on the galaxy tab 2. This is a PLS LCD screen and the resolution is 1024x600. The screen is nowhere low in quality and the resolution also does not bother any. The colours are vibrant on this screen, the vividness is felt when you watch a movie or have very rich quality wallpaper set up as background. I did not like the default wallpaper that came preset on the galaxy tab 2 because it is light in colour and the text is not very viewable. This screen really looked nice when the wallpaper to phase beam live wallpaper. The contrast is above average but do not expect AMOLED. It also does not harm your eyes by oversaturation the, the colours are natural and tend to be real. The screen is crisp on normal used distance and the pixels cannot be distinguished. I have also shown a close up image of the screen and its distance counterpart. You can notice that when you use it at a normal distance, you do not feel any pixilation but when you go that further as the image is, you might feel it is pixelated. I don’t think anyone on any normal day would go that close. The screen only does not spoil the pleasure to use this device, but it only makes the whole experience better. Viewing angles are not the best but it is quiet good from sideways, colour does not blow away. If you want to use it for multiple user movie watching experience, it won’t disappoint.

Touch Sensitivity

The heart of the device (touch response) beats well. The Samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 will definitely not disappoint you with touch screen performance. The sensitivity is amazing and the response time is equally good. This feels a device for its price. There are 10 Touch points on the device (the max i could test). The multi touch capability of the device is superior and top quality.

OS

The operating system on the galaxy tablet 2 is android 4.0 ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich), Android 4.0.3 to be specific. There is TouchWiz UI loaded on top of android and it does not slow down the experience in any way. There are no hardware buttons on the front. This tablet has four on screen buttons back, home, multitasking (open apps), screenshot on the bottom left on the screen. One inconvenient thing about android 4 on tablets is the application icon which is present on top right corner of the screen and for a new adaptor it is not easy to figure out. The setting and notifications can be opened from right bottom.  There is a brightness slider present where you can adjust brightness without going in to settings. Samsung has added some good things to UI including a photo and a video editor.
Photo editor lets you edit your photos, crop them and also add effects to them. This is a good default addition and you will like it. Video editor on other hand lets you create videos by mixing pictures and videos. You can add music, add pictures, add effects to your videos, add transitions etc. Moreover you will enjoy as you can create good personal videos or some nice edits or a walkthrough and upload it directly to YouTube.

TouchWiz UI

Samsung has added TouchWiz UI on top of android 4.0 ICS. The User interface has been optimised for end user and it makes the experience smoother and better. You can add widgets and shortcuts on homescreen in a selected space and not on the complete screen. This limitation has been brought about because of switching to landscape or portrait mode the widgets and shortcuts should be in the centre. There is a small arrow on the centre navigation bar which lets you open what is called “mini apps”. These Mini apps can be opened on any other application. If you are browsing or writing notes and you want to quickly play music or calculate something you can open a mini app. This mini app does not take up full window. You can do your work on these mini apps and then continue with your work by simply closing it. It enables different set of possibilities for multitasking. You can quickly select and play a song without losing your flow of work.
The settings menu has white background and black text as opposed to black background on stock ICS. There are also dock specific settings in the setting menu. The lock screen has been changed, when you touch your finger on the screen a circle appears. You need to swipe your finger towards the circle to unlock while in stock android 4.0 there was a unlock and camera shortcut present. It was nice to have that shortcut, but Samsung did not prefer it. You can customize it anytime with lock screen apps from the play store. Samsung has also removed the ability to swipe from apps screen to widget screen. You need to click on widgets option on top of screen which i feel is inconvenient every time you are in apps and want to get into widgets.

Performance

This tablet is quiet a performer. The response to touch is very good, infact instant. I did not notice any lag while touches and swiping on the homescreen or the apps drawer. This is one area which it shines above. The experience is satisfactory and enjoyable. It is important part of the experience because users open apps, close apps, swipe screens and multitask for a lot of time. This tablet lets you

do all that with ease. The dual core processor is powerful enough to handle everything you throw at it.

Game performance

The graphic processor on galaxy tab 2 is Power VR SXG 540. It is a dedicated and a power pack GPU. I have shown a game demo in the video review. I played the game while an application was downloading in the background, the performance did not lower because of the background process. The game was smooth and on screen controls responded well. Also the game looked really nice on a bigger screen.

Video performance

Video and movies are things you do almost regularly and on a device with a 7 inch screen size it has gotta be good. I tried playing a 1080P video clip and it played well. Moving to a specific time was quick and the video did not lag in the process.
I also loved how colours on this display are. It’s not overdone and a video feels natural. You will enjoy watching movies and videos on the Samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0.

 Storage

The galaxy tab 2 comes in 8/16/32 GB storage options. I had 16GB with me, although you have a microSD card slot and you can expand that storage. This tablet supports upto 32 GB of microSD card. I got 11.87 user available memory from the 16 GB stated on the specs but that is also good. Also there is USB OTG (on the go) present so you can watch a movie or open a file directly from the pendrive, but you will need a converting wire.

Battery

The batter is standard 4000 mAH and it is enough to drive you throughout the day and more. I started the review at 55% and used it all the time and still there was 4% juice left.

Browsing

I will sum up this in one line. For this price, this is a beast for browsing.

Camera

There is a 3.15MP camera present on the back and VGA camera on the front.

Back camera

This is an average quality camera. You can snap casual photos, although if you zoom after taking a picture it might feel a bit noisy. There is a smile shot and panorama mode present. You can also adjust the exposure. There is also no flash present so night time pictures are not possible unless done with an external light source. There is no macro shot mode present, so it won’t take close up pictures crisp and well focused. The video shot from this camera is better than average and you can shoot in 720P HD. I am uploading some back camera photo samples below; you can take a look for yourself.

Front Camera

Front facing camera is of VGA resolution. You can use it for video calling over carrier network or over skype. The video is of average quality but it is not a lot noisy and can be perfectly used for video calling.

Benchmarks

Quadrant – 2669
Antutu – 5404
Nenamark 2 – 25.4 fps
Browsermark – 78560

GPS

This has a GPS chip equipped with GLONAS. This is a very good chip and is good if you want to use this device for navigation purposes or in car navigation. Even indoors the GPS could receive satellite. This will give you the best GPS performance. You will have to download a navigation app from play store in order to use navigation.

Call quality & Reception

The reception of network signal is good, even in low network places it got good range and i was able to use the EDGE data on the network. The microphone catches your voice nicely and the sound of the earpiece is also crisp and clear. Having a 3G SIM facility on a tablet is already a plus and it’s even better when you get good experience and not poor signals.

Speaker

There are a set of stereo speakers present on the bottom of the device. The speakers are not too loud but clear and loud enough to be heard. Also sound quality while watching movies is good. I have one slight problem and that is when you hold the device in landscape mode, a speaker gets covered which reduces the volume by 20 to 30%.

Wi-Fi Performance

The Samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 has b/g/n WiFi radios on board and also it is dual band. What that means is, there is one for receiving data and one for sending. This will help you get the full potential out of your WiFi.

Keyboard

You will require keyboard frequently because media consumption on this device is more. In portrait mode the keyboard is usable and good to type. The keys are placed spaciously and there is also a separate line for numbers which is a good addition. In landscape mode however this not very user friendly keyboard as you will have to stretch your thumb quiet a lot. I would suggest getting a thumb keyboard for greater typing capabilities.

Final verdict

Display: 9/10
Performance: 9/10
Reception: 8/10
Camera: 7/10
Design: 8/10
Battery: 9/10
Software: 10/10
It is a good first tablet.

Karbonn A18 Review and how it fights Micromax A100

Karbonn A18 vs Micromax A100
Karbonn A18
Karbon A18 is the first device from Karbonn mobiles to come out with ICS and its quiet some phone.
Karbon A18 is priced at 9700 Rs.

Specifications
  • WVGA IPS display (480x800) 4.3 inch
  • 1 GHz processor
  • 512Mb RAM
  • GPS
  • Dual Sim
  • 1500 mAh battery
  • Wifi a/b/g/n
  • Bluetooth 4
  • Android 4.0 ICS (Ice cream sandwitch)
  • 5 MP HD camera and 1.3MP front facing camera
  • Sensor - G-sensor, proximity, light, magnetic sensor.
  • Micro SD card slot
Design

The design is pretty straight forward and nice on the face. First thing that your eyes get attracted to is the border, a silver border more like the karbonn smart tab 1. The thickness is more than 12mm. There is a big 4.3 inch IPS LCD displayup front and 4 capacitive hardware button below the screen. On top there is a speaker grill with some sensors on the right and VGA camera on the left of it. The back is made of plastic with a 5MP HD camera on top center with a flash below it and on the bottom back is a big grill that spans from left to right of the device for the speaker, karbonn better have stereo speakers in there. There is power button on the right side and volume rocker on the left.
On the other hand design of A100 is monotonous black but with a good rubberized back.
Karbonn A18

Screen
A big selling point is the screen. Karbonn A18 has IPS LCD display witha  WVGA resolution (480x800). Being IPS it will have very good viewing angles. Size of the screen is 4.3IN and it has slim bezels on the left and right side. Another plus here is good daylight viewing. It is also more sharper then the AMOLED display. This display was present on LG Optimus 2X. It is manufactured by LG. Iphone 4 also uses IPS display, only difference being it is a bit higher in resolution. Micromax A100 on other hand has 854x400 LCD display with 16million colors. Though don't expect high contrast like super AMOLED, but considering the price this display is a real snack.

Processor
The processor on this device is 1GHz mediatek 6575 which is good, but not the best. It will handle the OS nicely and will give you a smooth performance. It is based on ARM Cortex A9 architecture. The processor is energy efficient and uses 40nm tech. It is a very successful processor as it increases the browsing performance by 35% and graphics performance by 20% compared to its competitors.
The processor on A100 is based on the highly successful S1 from qualcomm.

Camera
Karbonn A18 features a 5MP camera on the back and 1.3MP camera on the front side.
5MP camera
This camera is better than one on the A100. It had HD 720P recording capability while micromax A100 has 480P support. The camera is autofocus camera wish some goodies.
Face Detection is a nice feature that is a bonus for a device in this price range. This camera feature detects faces. Burst Mode is also present so that you just do not miss the moment. This is top of the line feature.
However, i does not record audio from both the mics i.e. not stereo and also the 720P video recording quality is alright.
1.3MP front facing camera
This is 1MP more than the one on A100. The quality will be more sharper and with more detail. Although there is no mention of video calling over carrier.

Battery, Storage
The battery is 1500 mAH. This is good enough for a day usage as you consider the phone's processor is power efficient. You may also get a longer standby time.
It  has 512 Mb of internal storage. I am not aware yet as to how much is the user available memory. This is average considering 1.32 GB available in Micromax A100. There is a microSD card slot present for upto 32 GB of expansion.

Connectivity
Karbonn A18 is a dual sim phone with one 3G sim and other 2G sim. 3G data is 7.2MBPS HSPA.and on 2G Edge is supported. It has WiFi a/b/g/n, GPS and bluetooth v4.0.
WiFi n  is good to have because it improves the WiFi connectivity. Bluetooth 4.0 is the latest version available and is a good addition to this device.
Sensors: This device has a g-sensor, proximity sensor, magnetic sensor and light sensor. It is all packed up nicely.

OS
Karbonn A18 supports Android 4.0 ICS out of the box and micromax has not done more of customization to it. You can check full ICS review here.

Pre-installed apps
There are some nice pre-installed apps on Karbonn A18. There is a document viewer for quick document viewing purpose. Also there is a document editor which you can use to edit and create document. Is that not good. It also has an app called NextGTv which is live TV App.

You might want to check out the full in depth Micromax A100 Review
Pros

  • IPS display
  • PowerVR SXG531 graphics
  • Android 4.0 ICS
  • Capacitive buttons
  • Camera with 720P recording
  • Price of Rs 9700/-
  • Burst mode in camera

Cons

  • Battery could have been bigger
  • Not so good looking

Micromax ninja 3 review. A dual sim phone with android goodness.

Ninja 3 with android 2.3
Micromax Ninja 3
Micromax has launched Ninja 3, a budget friendly device with features more than the price.

Specifications

  • HVGA display (480x320) 3.5 inch
  • 1 GHz processor
  • 512Mb RAM
  • GPS
  • Dual Sim
  • 1400 mAh battery
  • Wifi b/g/n
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • Android 2.3 gingerbread
  • 3 MP camera
  • Micro SD card slot
Design
Micromax ninja 3 design

This phone is just 11.5 mm thin and has a nice curved back. The design is simple and constructive. There back is tapering towards the corners that makes the phone comfortable to grip in hand. There is a power key on the right side of the phone and volume key on the right hand side. It has no camera key. There is a 3.5MM audio jack present on top and micro usb port on bottom. 3 capacitive buttons are present below the screen. The phone is not too loud on the front or on the back. There is a speaker grill on the top and some sensors beside it. The camera is slightly elevated on the back it gives the feeling of HTC aesthetics.
The speaker is present below the micromax logo on the back. It is available in 2 colors midnight black and yellow.

Screen

The screen is 3.5 inch with 2.2k colors. This phone is also known as A57. Considering the price this is a good display. The resolution is 320x480 which is really good and better than galaxy pocket. It is the same resolution found in ace duos and htc desire c. It is a multitouch capacitive screen.

Processor
It has 1GHz processor. Comparing it to micromax A45 punk which has 650 MHz processor and is priced at 5499 Rs, this is better when fared with it. It will power the phone nicely. The experience on this phone will be smooth. It is the best what you can get in this price. Even Htc Desire C has a 600 Mhz processor.

Camera
2MP Cmos sensor camera

It has 3MP CMOS censor. Micromax A45 has a 2MP camera which is again not good comparing to this. It is an average camera, but it is good for the market which this phone is targeted to. It will have 4x digital zoom and also night mode for better night capturing. However this does not have flash.
MultiShot mode is the highlight here as it will let you multiple images in one click, more like the galaxy s3 burst shot mode.

GPS
A good highlight of this phone is GPS. The Ninja 3 has GPS which you can use for navigation and location purposes. This feature is a plus when you see Rs 4999 price. If you are looking for a low end phone with GPS, this is the phone to go with.

Battery
Micromax ninja 3 has 1400 mAH battery. The battery is good and will drive you through the day of average usage, but do not expect a full 2 or 3 day usage

WiFi
Micromax ninja 3 is loaded with B/G/N wifi radios. The surprise here is it has N radio which will improve the wifi signal on your phone and support more high speed wifi networks upto 150 Mbps. The catch here is that it also improves the signal in low signal areas.

Storage
It has 512Mb internal storage with a microSD card slot with 32GB support. It is less compared to galaxy pocket which has 3GB internal memory but it is fare compared to galaxy Y duos which has 160 MB user available internal memory.

OS
This phone has android 2.3.5 Gingerbread loaded with custom skin by micromax. Android 2.3 is more than 2 years old now and still phones loaded with it are coming out, there is a good reason for this. Android 2.3 is a complete OS with good app and game support. It runs smoothly on 1Ghz processor and also has functionality such as WiFi Hostspot. It won't run out of mobile space until next 3-4 years. A bundle of Mi apps are pre-installed. It also has the HookUp app for texting and sharing.
Gingerbread still has major portion of market share in android. Considering the price of Ninja 3, this is a good OS.

Dual SIM Quality
This phone has one 3G sim slot and other 2G. You can use it for 3G data connectivity. WCDMA 2100 band is supported for 3G and GSM 900/1800 are supported for 2G gprs functionality.
This is a Dual standby phone, what that means is when you are on call on one sim other sim will show not reachable rather than just giving you a waiting call. This is not dual active but when see other specs, this can be compromised on.

Final Verdict

Display: 6/10
Performance: 6/10
Reception: 6/10
Camera: 5/10
Design: 7/10
Battery: 6/10
Software: 7/10

It is a budget and pocket friendly mobile phone which you will enjoy.

Galaxy Note 2 bring photo note. In this you can flip the photo and it will produce an image that looks like the back of image and then you can write on it.

Idea visualizer
Write a word in the box and it will automatically suggest a picture. This is awesome feature. You can also add pictures to library. Will be interesting to use it.

When you remove the Spen a small Magic wand Menu appears which lets you know what all magic you can do with S Pen

The new S Pen has new tech. When you hover it over the screen you can see the preview. This can be done over an email, calender event, photo or a message.

Quick Command
Just hold the Spen and swipe it up where a command window appears . When you write a name and it recognizes you command and  and takes you to the contact. More commands available.

S Pen SDK 2.0 available.

Sketchbook takes advantage of the S Pen and let the artists elevate even further.it is available preloaded with the galaxy note 2.

The design is very close to galaxy s3 and now samsung has start to take the look away from apple. The software is improved.

Micromax A100 vs Xperia Neo v Camera samples comparision.

I am doing some comparison below of two 5Mp cameras, one from Micromax A100 and other from xperia neo v.
The shots of the cat are from micromax and the flower are from neo v. The reason am comparing photos captured from these two devices is that they are quiet similar on specs, 1GHZ processor, almost 512 MB ram, android 4.0 and a 5MP camera. I think Sony is a really good camera maker but at least we can see how much micromax fares in front of that.

Also significant is the amount of detail these two images store. A 5Mp shot from micromax is 1.01 mb while a 5Mp shot form xperia neo v is 1.46 mb. It store more detail and captures more light. Micromax however is not bad as you can see from the first shot it is good enough.
